People's Oppose To Open TASMAC
Sriram Avenue Residents Welfare Association members have appealed to the District Collector to stall the proposed move to open a Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (TASMAC) run liquor shop (with bar) in a residential locality in Vadavalli on Marudhamalai Road near Kalidas Theatre. The residents led by C. Ramraj in a petition pointed out that the main road had a number of residential colonies such as Sakthi Flats, Mahaveer Nagar, Adithya Garden and Park Avenue. The area has more than 800 houses besides a school and a number of places of worship. The entrance to the residential area from the main road is very narrow and opening of a liquor shop would add to further congestion besides disrupting the peace and harmony in the locality. The customers to the shop in an inebriated condition are likely to disrupt the peaceful living of the families here. The councillor and the Town Panchayat Chairman have sent memorandums to the authorities.
