Students Can Use The Playground

Collector V. Palanikumar at the meeting in Collectorate on Thursday to resolve the playground issue. Representatives of the private charitable trust claiming ownership over the playground that was in the possession of the Ondipudur Government Girls Higher Secondary School have come forward to give up their claim and said the students can continue to use it as a playground. This was decided at the talks the representatives of the trust had with the Collector, V. Palanikumar, officials from the Revenue, Education, Police and Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department on Thursday.

The decision was welcomed by the Collector and said that such a magnanimous gesture would help in ensuring a good academic ambience for the students. Chief Educational Officer, S. Karmegam said that Rs. 42 lakh would be spent for improving the infrastructure of the school. Joint Commissioner for Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments, M. Ashok said that his department would take efforts for compensating the trust with funds for carrying on with the works and pujas that belonged to the temple. The talks were also attended by the elected representatives from various political parties representing the area.
