U21Global And LMW Tied Up

U21Global, an online graduate school backed by research-intensive universities in 11 countries, has tied up with Lakshmi Machine Works (LMW) here to train some of the company’s personnel in manufacturing management. Shrikant Sinha, director – South India of U21Global, told here on Saturday that 10 people would be trained initially, out of the 23 selected by the company. Almost all them had over 10 years work experience. They would undergo a four module programme on organisation behaviour, supply chain management, operation and strategic management.

Each module would be for 12 weeks, with 10 hours of learning a week. The course was 100 per cent internet-based and flexible. The learners would be able to log on to the portal from home or office. They would complete the entire programme in six months to one-and-a-half year. The employees’ progress would be sent to the organisation once a fortnight apart from evaluating them at the time of course completion.

The programme would equip the learners to grow in their profession and learn while balancing time between family and work as the model was work place integrated. It offered experimental learning with case studies and discussions. “We look to train about 40 people in LMW,” he said. The school had been associated with nearly 40 companies in the country so far from the manufacturing and service industries, public and private sectors. It offered full-time management programmes and short-term professional development courses. Its core competence was in business administration, technology and travel and tourism. Individuals could also join these programmes. About 85 per cent of its registrations in the country were through corporate tie-ups, he said.
