AU - VC Warned Colleges

If the university received any complaints from the student or the parent that the certificates or the fee were being withheld, “it will be viewed very seriously and will be considered as a black mark when the affiliation process is done.” He said that this was communicated at a meeting of college correspondents and secretaries of aided and self-financing colleges affiliated to the university on July 5. Regarding use of mobile phones in college campuses, he said that though the use of phones were permitted, the colleges should install mobile phone jammers in the class rooms, libraries and other instructional areas to maintain a high degree of discipline among the students.
Referring to the circular of the University Grants Commission (UGC) regarding ragging, the Vice-Chancellor said the college managements should take steps against students who were indulging in ragging. “The colleges should strictly adhere to the norms set out in the UGC circular,” he asserted. The Vice-Chancellor also told colleges to take serious note of malpractices during examinations. “If any incident is reported, it will lead to withdrawal of the affiliation,” Mr. Radhakrishnan said.
