The Coimbatore Corporation has said it would provide Rs.500 towards expenses for the funeral of persons belonging to the Adi-Dravida and Scheduled Tribes section and also Adi-Dravida members who had converted to Christianity. The Corporation said in a press release on Thursday that the assistance was provided as part of a State Government scheme. The annual income of the deceased should not have been more than Rs.24,000. Eligible families could apply to the Assistant Commissioners at the zone offices of the Corporation to avail themselves of the assistance.
