House surgeons and medical students staging a flash strike at the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital on Thursday protesting against alleged intimidations and threats by those accompanying the patients. Tense moments prevailed at the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH) on Thursday when house surgeons and medical students resorted to a protest condemning the criminal intimidations being unleashed by people accompanying patients. They alleged that three patients with injuries from Uppukadai area who came with their relatives to the hospital on Wednesday night resorted to abusive languages and criminal intimidation. The revenue, police and CMCH authorities held talks with the agitators. Following assurances that steps would be taken to ensure their safety, the medicos and house surgeons withdrew their strike around noon. Meanwhile, Race Course Police have registered cases against 30 persons for the incident that took place on Wednesday night.
