India has the second largest higher education system in the world. But, what we need today is not higher education, but higher knowledge education, said Saroja Prabhakaran, Vice-Chancellor of Avinashilingam University for Women. She was delivering the graduation address at the Rathinam College of Arts and Science. Those who aspired to become organisational leaders in today’s environment would need to acquire specialised knowledge, skills and attitudes, she said.
‘It is not enough if students are intellectually good and technically skilled, but they should be civilised in their emotions and strong in their mind and also refined in purpose. Real education is one which enables to utilise knowledge for the welfare of the society. It is necessary to foster human values along with the growth of science and technology,’ said Ms. Prabhakaran. She urged the educational institutions to give wholesome education to produce dynamic leaders.‘Continuous quest for new knowledge and effective utilisation of that knowledge for societal uplift should be the prime goal of one’s life,’ she added. About 75 candidates received degree certificates from Ms. Prabhakaran. Madan A. Sendhil, Chairman, Rathinam Group, spoke.
