Fund-raising Show For Charity
Bharatha Annai Illam is organising a show by small screen TV artistes in a bid to raise funds for building a shelter for the aged, orphans, mentally-challenged persons and beggars. The Illam that was started in 2002 was formally registered in 2004. It accommodates nearly 130 destitute persons. The Illam has been functioning in a rented building. They have recently purchased 13 cents of land and are planning to construct a new building.The event is conducted to raise funds for the construction of the building. According to T. Saraswathi, Managing Trustee, the event to be participated by artistes from small screen would be conducted on November 15 at VOC Park Grounds. Mayor R. Venatachalam, Collector, V. Palanikumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), S. Rajendran, Chairman of Coimbatore Corporation – South Zone, Pyntamil Pari and others would take part.
