Taluk Office Clerk Held On Graft Charges
A record clerk at the north taluk office was trapped ‘redhanded’ by the sleuths of the Directorate of Anti-vigilance and Corruption on Monday. According to V. Mohan Karthik of Thottipalayam, the record clerk Mariappan demanded a bribe of Rs. 5,000 to issue revenue certificate pertaining to his land. Mohan Karthik had sought the application for a bank loan for wasteland development. The complainant bargained with the record clerk and finally agreed to pay Rs. 4,000. He preferred a complain with the DVAC, who organised a trap. Mohan Karthik handed over the money in the evening at the office and the sleuths caught Mariappan ‘redhanded’. A case has been registered in this connection.
