Lottory Ticket Seized :
The Coimbatore City Police raided a premise in Sai Baba Colony and have seized 40,275 lottery tickets and Rs. 73,000. D. Baladinakaran (25) son of Duraipandi has been arrested. Following an intelligence tip off about the sale of banned lottery tickets, the city police team raided the premises on Thursday afternoon and seized the lottery tickets.
Man held :
The police on Thursday arrested Karuppasamy (45) of Avanashi, an assistant to Village Administrative Officer in Avanashi area on charges of impersonating as an officer in Excise Department. It is learnt that Karuppasamy used to visit Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation run liquor shops in the area and conduct inspections and make remarks in the registers. He was in the practice of either appreciating the supervisor or admonishing him for lapses and used to collect money from every liquor shop. Following a complaint, he was arrested and remanded to judicial custody.

Boycott Court :
Lawyers practicing in the sessions and sub-ordinate judiciary boycotted courts on Thursday in protest against the alleged high-handed behaviour of a traffic constable Senthilkumar with Ramamurthy, a lawyer, recently. The lawyers demanded that the police should initiate action against the constable immediately.

Regulatory Orders :
City Police Commissioner K.C. Mahali has clamped regulatory orders under Section 41 of the Madras City Police Act prohibiting public assemblies, dharnas, demonstrations, processions and meetings in all the 15 police station limits till December 18, a release here has said.
