Police Focus On Pending Cases
The Deputy Inspector General of Police, Coimbatore Range, P. Sivanandi on Thursday said the police in Coimbatore and Erode had been asked to focus on unsolved murder cases. Reviewing the performance of the police in the Coimbatore range comprising Coimbatore Rural, Erode and the Nilgiris districts, Mr. Sivanandi asked the Superintendents of Police to form special teams to apprehend the culprits involved in the murder cases.
The special teams formed therein were entrusted with a total of 18 cases in Coimbatore and Erode districts. The teams solved five murder cases. Eight accused were arrested in murder cases in Thudialur, Sulur, Tirupur, Uthukuzhi and Perundurai, Mr. Sivanandi said. The officers in the special teams and the inspectors concerned had been asked to show progress in investigations and resolve the cases, failing which, the DIG had warned that appropriate disciplinary action would be initiated against them.
