Chinnasamy (70) of Dhaliyur near Thudialur near the city was found dead, with his throat slit, at his farm house early on Sunday. According to police, the milk man spotted the body when he entered the house after he did not get any response to his routine call at the door. Chinnasamy’s 45-year-old daughter Inbavathi was found alive, but with a deep gash in the throat. She was admitted to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital in a serious condition. A sniffer dog picked up the trail of the culprits up to a kilometre. Finger prints were lifted from the spot. The police suspect enmity over property to have been the reason as no valuables or cash were missing.
