Security Arrangements Stepped Up
The Coimbatore City Police have stepped up security arrangements for the Republic Day celebrations. Over 1,200 police personnel would be deployed across the city. Talking to , City Police Commissioner K.C. Mahali said that access control security measures and aerial surveillance from high rise buildings near the VOC Park would form part of the security arrangements. Anti-Sabotage Teams of the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squads would be on a state of alert. Visitors to the Republic Day parade at VOC Park would be frisked. Vehicle checks are being intensified with effect from Saturday night.
