PRESIDENT ELECTED:
P.P. Balan has been elected president of the Steel Authority of India Employees’ Association, Coimbatore, for 2009. The other office-bearers are: R. Subramanian (vice-president), J.S. Durai (general secretary) and K. Parameswaran (treasurer).
BU Graduation:
The 24th convocation of Bharathiar University will be held on April 9. According to Vice-Chancellor G. Thiruvasagam, Governor Surjit Singh Barnala will preside. He told presspersons here on Sunday that nearly 42,000 candidates would receive degrees.

Coimbatore Civil Engineers’ Association will organise a talent search competition for civil engineering students on March 20. This is to commemorate the association’s second anniversary. Papers on topics ‘Green Buildings’ and ‘Recent Tends in Concrete Technology’, are called for.
