Farmers who were agitated over police action against toddy tapping on Sunday thronged the Thondamuthur police station leading to tense moments. For the last few days, police have been conducting raids in rural areas against toddy tapping and sales. Till Saturday, 14 persons were arrested. Thondamuthur police had arrested a farm owner Rasappan (65) and tree climber Natarajan (35) for indulging in toddy tapping. The farmers have been carrying on with the agitation against the government ban. The police held talks with the farmers and after registering cases, those arrested were released on bail.
