Meeting On Quality Management Standards
Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) here should gear up on various fronts such as innovation, quality and efficiency to benefit when the economy recovers, according to the Coimbatore District Small Industries’ Association. A release from the association said the MSMEs were hit by the global economic recession and its impact on the domestic market. However, the economy would recover and the units should be prepared to benefit. The CODISSIA organised a meeting in association with the MSME Development Institute here recently on quality management standards and quality management tools under the National Manufacturing Competitiveness Programme of the Union Ministry of MSME. Experts spoke on various quality tools available for the industries.The programme aimed at creating awareness on issues such as quality management standards, lean manufacturing and intellectual property rights. Most of these events were organised as public-private partnership. The association pointed out that industries here were known for the quality of the products made, especially for the domestic market. A number of them had also made inroads into the international market by achieving world-class standards through use of quality management tools to enhance their productivity and capability.
