DSP House Burgled

In a daring burglary at the house of a police officer in suburban Coimbatore, the pistol and Rs 5 lakh in cash of a deputy superintendent of police were stolen on Sunday. An unidentified gang broke open the rear door of the house of Civil Rights wing DSP M Nataraj at Kumarikottam at Sulur on Sunday morning and walked away with a 5 mm pistol, Rs 5 lakh in cash, and jewels worth Rs 75,000. “The pistol is a private weapon of the DSP and so he had not taken it on his official duty,” the Coimbatore rural SP Dr Kannan said. DSP’s wife Sakunthala, who went to her farm at Karamadai on Sunday morning returned in the late evening to find the house burgled. Police have launched a search for the gang behind the burglary.
