CB CID Arrested Coimbatore Person
The CB CID has arrested a person who posed as a member of a human rights body and collected money from many people and stayed in suites at the Circuit House in Coimbatore. A CB CID release said that a team arrested Saravanan Karuppusamy following a complaint from a journalist, who grew suspicious about the organisation ‘World Human Rights Commission’ of which the accused claimed to be the CEO.
The journalist had cornered him at a press conference Karuppusamy convened in Coimbatore and later lodged a complaint with the police. Subsequently, T Jayaraman, reception officer at Coimbatore collectorate, who had arranged the suites for Karuppusamy and his associate lodged a complaint against the accused in the same police station. The State Human Rights Commission, which came to know about the incidents, took suo motu cognisance and asked the DGP to transfer the case to CB-CID. When CB-CID took over the probe, V Krishnakumar, a resident of Coimbatore, lodged a complaint with CB-CID, alleging that Saravanan and his associate Sakthi used to visit Coimbatore and had approached him for enlisting members of his organisation and collected Rs 160 per head. He said he was cheated of more than Rs 1 lakh by the duo. Based on his complaint, the CB-CID registered one more case against Saravanan and Sakthi.
