Upaharana Trust, a charitable organisation, is organising a variety entertainment at the VOC Grounds here on May 30 to raise funds for educating 138 children, who have been child labourers in various parts of South India.According to a spokesperson of the trust, this event, called “Kovaiyil Oru Kondattam”, will also help 380 children at the Families for Children, an orphanage at Podanur, near here. The trust also plans to help Sivakumar, who was the topper in the higher secondary examinations among the students of the Corporation schools across Coimbatore, to pursue higher education.
The event is supported by singer Anuradha Sriram, who spent considerable time with the children at the Families for Children.“Their daily life itself is a challenge and they are the real life heroes,” she said urging the people to support the cause.The event will feature programmes by Anuradha Sriram, “Maanada Mayilada” team and also performances by distinguished artistes and film actors. The children from Families for Children will also participate.
