Ready for Counting !!

The Administration has made elaborate arrangements for counting of votes for the Coimbatore and Pollachi Lok Sabha constituencies at the Government College of Technology on Thadagam Road and the PA College of Engineering in Pollachi respectively.The District Collector, District Election Officer and Returning Officer for Coimbatore Lok Sabha seat, V.Palanikumar will be in charge of counting of votes for the Coimbatore constituency. The District Revenue Officer and Returning Officer, S. Prabakaran would be in charge for counting of votes for the Pollachi Lok Sabha constituency. In Coimbatore constituency, six counting halls have been established wherein the 1,412 electronic voting machines would be taken up for counting and each hall would have 14 tables and every table would have two persons to do the counting. The counting is to commence at 8 a.m., and officials were confident that the counting process will be completed by 12 noon.

In Pollachi, a total of 1,333 EVMs will be taken up for counting. Poll observers Vinod R. Rao, N.P. Agarwal and Dilip Kumar Das will be monitoring the counting process at Coimbatore.In Pollachi, the observers are Amrendrakumar Singh, Tushar Kanti Behera and S.K. Sharma.In Pollachi, security arrangement is being put in place by the Superintendent of Police, Coimbatore, N. Kannan under the supervision of Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Coimbatore Range, M. Ramasubramani and Inspector-General of Police, West Zone, Pramod Kumar.

In Coimbatore, security arrangement is in place at the GCT, said K.C. Mahali, Commissioner of Police, Coimbatore City. Armed pickets are deployed across the city as a matter of precaution. Armed guards have been posted at the strong room at GCT where the EVMs from Coimbatore South, Coimbatore North, Singanallur, Palladam, Sulur and Kavundampalayam have been kept.

Similarly, the EVMs from Kinthukkadavu, Pollachi, Udumalpet, Valparai, Madathukulam and Thondamuthur are kept at the strong room at PA College of Engineering.
