This is because we are only going through an economic slowdown and not facing a recession situation,” C. Pandu Rangan, Fellow, Indian National Academy of Engineering, said here recently.

Delivering the graduation day address at the Tamilnadu College of Engineering, he said though it was true that many employment opportunities had been closed to people, the same could be opened with knowledge and efficiency. “Candidates who are completing their studies should see this as an opportunity and take effective steps to overcome the recession like situation. Developing entrepreneurial skills should be a priority to contribute to family and society.

This is a marvellous opportunity to put your skill and knowledge to practical use,” he said. Citing the example of Coimbatore, he said it was the epi-centre of entrepreneurship. No other city in the State had as many textile, engineering and pump industries. Mr. Pandu Rangan urged the youth to take up the task of bringing about change. “It is only the youth who are capable of bringing about change and also ensuring economic development”. P.V. Ravi, Secretary and Correspondent; Anusha R. Mahesh, Chief Executive; and P. Palaniswamy, Chairman, of the college, were felicitated. More than 350 candidates were awarded degree certificates by the chief guest.
