Restaurants in Hyderabad seem to be on an expansion mode. While Hyderabad House, one of the best known brands in the city is going global, another food chain Ohri’s is planning to enter other cities in the country including Bangalore, Coimbatore, Bhubaneswar and Ahmedabad.Hyderabad House, which serves the famous Hyderabadi biryani will have franchisee outlets in Australia, Malaysia and Singapore. “New outlets are also coming up in the US, UK and Malaysia and each of them will require an investment of Rs 1 crore. Some more branches might be set up in India as well. The cost for each of these will be around Rs 60-70 lakh.” Mir Mazharuddin, managing director of Hyderabad House said.

Hyderabad House has a turnover of around Rs 7 crore and has ten outlets in prime localities in the city. It has also started serving Chinese cuisines in its new restaurant Bowl O’ China. “We are looking at opening 3-4 more outlets here,” he said. Meanwhile, Ohris’, a Rs 50-crore company, is set to open an exclusive sizzlers restaurant and food court to be called Munch Towns.”We will have sizzlers of all kinds including Indian, Chinese and continental. The restaurant in the city will start off by the first week of September,” said Amar Ohri, executive director, Ohri’s. After Hyderbad, Ohri’s has plans to open shop in Bangalore, Coimbatore, Bhubaneswar and Ahmedabad. “We have already started a food court in Kolkata,” Amar Ohri said. The company is also planning to give a new identity to the food courts. “While most food courts in Hyderabad have a common kitchen for all cuisines, there will be different kitchens for each of our cuisines,“ he said. He claims that prices in these food courts will be reasonable as the target would be the middle class. The food courts will also have Mughlai, Chinese and continental cuisines, besides Indian cuisine.
