Good Shepherd International School at nearby Udhagamandalam (Ooty), today launched a three-year programme of Bachelor's Degree of International Business (BIB) in Hotel and Tourism Management from Cesar Ritz College, Switzerland. All the students will study at the new Good Shepherd College of Hotel Management for the first two years and complete a six month industrial training as stipulated by the curriculum of Ritz College, Dr P C Thomas, Principal of the School told reporters here.Students will proceed to Switzerland, for their final year of studies
On successful completion of the two-year programme, students will proceed to Switzerland, for their final year of studies, which will be followed by a paid industrial training of 22 weeks in order to get international exposure, he said. There was large employment opportunities for hotel managers, as 35 five-star hotels are to be constructed in India in the next two years, he said adding the programme aimed at creating the new managers and leaders of a booming hotel and tourism industry. The curriculum focuses on practical as well as theoretical subjects like culinary studies, food service studies and operations, wine and beverage, restaurant showmanship and gastronomy, Thomas said.
