Viruksha Bhumi project launched

The Rotary Club of Coimbatore has launched Viruksha Bhumi project to distribute one lakh saplings to the public for planting them in and around Coimbatore.The project was inaugurated by the District Governor of Rotary, L. Narayanasamy. According to the club president, Harish B. Vagadia, the saplings would be distributed in 100 days.The club proposed to have more than 100 distribution centres in and around Coimbatore city, where four varieties of saplings would be made available.

They would be given free of cost to citizens of Coimbatore to enable them to plant at places of their choice. Along with the saplings, a brochure would be given to explain the advantages of the programme, features of the tree species, method for planting and the ways to nurture it.The saplings would be distributed through petrol pumps, cinema theatres, mega stores, education institutions, residents associations and hotels.
