Doppler Scanner Donated To CMCH

The Rotary Club of Coimbatore Metropolis donated on Tuesday a colour Doppler scanner costing Rs.8 lakh to the paediatric surgery wing of the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital. The club said that the equipment could be used for diagnosing problems in the abdomen, chest and brain and spinal cord.
The association had already built a neo-natal intensive care unit at the hospital and donated equipment worth Rs.40 lakh, the release said.


Hospital Dean Hemalatha Ganapathy, Rotary District Governor L. Narayanaswamy were among the hospital authorities and Rotary office-bearers present when the equipment was donated. President of the association K.R. Murali said in a release that the hospital had requested for the equipment. The club also donated on Tuesday a colour Doppler worth Rs.4.2 lakh to AIM for Seva Hospital of the Arsha Vidya Gurukulam at Anaikatti, near here. It also donated furnutre worth Rs.1.75 lakh to the Government school at Thondamuthur.The club said that under a Rs.9 lakh project, it had constructed a gynaecology and obstetrics ward at the hospital for tribal women in Anaikatti and donated equipment.


The club had installed electric water purifiers in over 25 Government schools in the district. This benefited over 31,000 children, the release said.It had also constructed a school block at Rs.10 lakh in an earthquake-affected area in Gujarat and established a Rs.4 lakh rural knowledge centre at the tsunami-affected Prataparamapuram in Nagapattinam District, in association with the M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation.
