Hogenakkal :Law Students Stirke

Students of Government Law College stage a demonstration, near the Karnataka Sangh marriage hall in the city on Wednesday in protest against the attack on Tamils in Karnataka and attempts to stall the Hogenakkal Water Supply Scheme. Agitations by various political organisations against Karnataka kept the police on their toes till Wednesday afternoon.

On Monday night, a group of activists owing affiliation to a Hindu outfit picketed a Bangalore-bound KSRTC bus. On Tuesday late night, a group of activists who came in a car at Ganapathy on Sathyamangalam Road intercepted a Karnataka State Transport Corporation bus bound for Bangalore soon after its departure from Gandhipuram. They smashed the window panes and windscreens of the bus.

The activists allegedly owing affiliation to Dalit Panthers of India threw handbills and notices accusing Tamil Nadu of speaking nationalism and mortgaging its rights to Karnataka. On Wednesday morning, the City Police were literally on their toes when a group of 18 Law College students staged a demonstration on the Karnataka Sangham marriage hall premises in Sivananda Colony. Attempts to burn Karnataka leaders in effigies were foiled by the police. They have been secured by the police. Another group of seven persons from Pattali Makkal Katchi entered the Mysore Association on Lawley Road and poured black paint/tar over the name board. They were taken to custody.
