Entry Of Trucks Banned
City Police Commissioner, K.C. Mahali has announced that regulation on entry of trucks on to the city roads will be strictly enforced in a bid to streamline city traffic.He said that entry of trucks in to the city limits will be banned from 8 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. and again from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. The traffic sergeants and police personnel are instructed to ensure strict compliance.
Mr.Mahali also said that steps were underway to implement the decisions arrived at after the micro level traffic planning study carried out on Sathyamangalam Road, Mettuppalayam Road, Avanashi Road and Sathyamangalam Road. Commissioner said that the measures would be aimed to ensure free flow of traffic. It is also intended to reduce accident rate. He added that in another six months, traffic management on Avanashi Road will become a model and added that the regulations will be put into operation once the widening of the 17 km Avanashi Road is completed. Lane system with separate bays for different categories of vehicles will be introduced on this road, he added.
