KOB Textiles Plans Expantion

KOB Medical Textiles, a 100 per cent subsidiary of KOB, Germany, plans to expand the production capacity of its plant at Palladam. Its Managing Director A. Shanmugavasan told that the plant at Palladam, which was started eight years ago as an Export Oriented Unit, was making 50 million pieces of cotton and synthetic-based bandages annually.
The company planned to expand to production of crochet knitted and circular knitted bandages. Construction had started for this and the additional capacity was likely to be commissioned by mid of next year. Mr. Shanmugavasan said that KOB had bandage production plants in China, France, Germany and India. KOB was also launching a trading division here to import and sell sophisticated bandages in India. It was initially launching “Kobra Cast”, a synthetic cast, in the Indian market. This would be distributed by Casil Healthcare Private Limited. It would look at launching other products such as cohesive, elastic adhesives and sports bandages gradually.
