Conference Concluded
The programme focussed on nano-technology based finishes, functionalised fibres, regenerated fibres, smart textiles and medical textiles. Over 30 presentations were made on practical and theoretical subjects related to technical textiles and value-addition. Details on investment needs and technology for technical textiles were discussed at an interactive session during the conference. The participants laid emphasis on both basic and applied research to promote the growth of the sector.
It was essential to promote interaction among stake holders such as fibre producers, textile industries and research associations to diversify from conventional textiles. Raw material requirements for technical textiles such as high tenacity polyster should be addressed and the domestic textile industry should have more global interaction to gain technology knowledge and market access for investments in the sector.
