Gram Sabha Meetings On Aug-15
The District Collector, V. Palanikumar has announced that gram sabha meetings would be held in 389 village panchayats on August 15.The meetings would focus on identification of projects to be taken up under the Rural Infrastructure scheme and social audit of projects implemented in panchayats since May under the National Rural Employment Guarantee scheme.Meetings would review the progress in the Anna Renaissance Scheme. At these meetings, there would be a review of implementation of schemes related to drinking water, electricity bills and other expenditures incurred from the general account and administrative expenses. The income and expenditure account will be tabled for ratification of the gram sabha. Under the total sanitation scheme, Rs 1,200 would be provided as incentive for construction of low cost toilets in all the houses in the panchayat.
