Chander Memorial Rally 2008 On Dec 21st
The ninth Chander Memorial Rally 2008 for two-wheelers and four-wheelers would be held here on December 21. The rally, run on time, speed and distance format, was being organised in memory of motor sports patron late M K Chander, and has attracted 70 teams, P K Rajagopalan, Trustee of Chander Memorial Trust told reporters here today.The event, jointly organised by Coimbatore Auto Sports Club and Chander Memorial Trust, would cover a distance of about 140 km and the maximum average speed would be 45 kmph while the minimum would be as low as 20 kmph. "There would be secret check points en route to monitor the speed of the cars and every second is liable for penalty whether they were running late or early," Rajagopalan said. The organisers have introduced a separate category for students from this year, he added.
