83rd Founders’ Day of the PSG & Sons’ Charities
G. Elangovan, Chief Controller, R&D, DRDO, speaking at the 83rd Founders’ Day of the PSG & Sons’ Charities in Coimbatore on Friday. Certain areas in the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) like Research and Development (R&D), atomic energy, etc., have been hit badly by attrition thanks to the attraction of the IT wave. But, now with recession, there is a great momentum towards government jobs, G. Elangovan, Chief Controller, R&D, DRDO, said on Friday. Speaking at the 83rd Founders’ Day celebration of the PSG & Sons’ Charities, he said that the new found attraction towards government jobs would also enable DRDO get professional manpower. “There are more than 400 industries partnering with the DRDO to take on certain projects for manufacturing. There is a lot of work that the DRDO has in store. We carry out very limited research. We leave that to the institutions,” Mr. Elangovan said.
Mr. Elangovan urged educational institutions to generate as many Intellectual Property Rights as possible. Distinguished alumni awards were given to Dr. G. Srinivasan, dentist, N. Viswanathan, Managing Partner, Ammarun Foundries, K. Ramachandran, Scientist “F”, DRDO, Mylsamy Annadurai, Project Director, Chandrayaan – 1, and K. Srinivasan, Accountant General (A&E), Tamil Nadu. C.U. Hari, Director (Aeronautics) and Secretary (AR&DB), DRDO, and G. Rangaswamy, Managing Partner, PSG & Sons’ Charities, spoke.
