Coimbatore Goldsmiths Seeks Collector's Help

Goldsmiths in the city today petitioned District Collector V Palanikumar complaining they were facing a crisis with an influx of Bangladeshis in the guise of Bengalis costing them their jobs. In a memorandum to Palanikumar, around 700 workers, under the banner of Sri Viswa Brahma Sena, claimed that people from Bangladesh, in the guise of Bengalis were coming to the city and working for cheaper wages, creating problems for the local goldsmiths and workers. Due to this influx, the Coimbatore goldsmiths lost their jobs and have no other means even to pay house rent, which resulted in seeking loans from others. Some goldsmiths had even committed suicide for not having money to repay the loans, they claimed.
