Tight security to Shri.L.K.Advani ...


A tight security cover was thrown over the Coimbatore airport area on Sunday as Bharatiya Janata Party leader L.K. Advani arrived in the evening to head for an election meeting in the neighbouring Palakkad district in Kerala.

Mr. Advani arrived by a special aircraft from Raipur in Chhattisgarh.He was received by former Union Minister of State for Railways O. Rajagopal, other office-bearers of the party from Kerala, Tamil Nadu secretary G.K.S. Selvakumar and national council member S.R. Seghar.

The usual parking area was cordoned off in view of the tight security that had to be provided for Mr. Advani who came under the Z Plus category.Passengers and visitors to the airport had to park their cars at the eastern end of the premises and walk to the entrance of the building.

City Police Commissioner K.C. Mahali, Deputy Commissioners of Police K. Shanmughavel, N. Kamini and Superintendent of Police, Coimbatore Rural headed a posse of police personnel spread all over the airport. Originally scheduled to arrive at 3 p.m., Mr. Advani’s flight arrived only around 4.45 p.m. He waved at party workers as he left by a car to Palakkad.
