Mr. Gandhi’s visit to Tamil Nadu will strengthen Congress and its youth wing, party leader E.V.K.S. Elangovan has said. Talking to reporters here on Monday, he said the three-day visit was aimed at attracting youth, who stayed out of politics with the impression it was bad.

Mr. Elangovan said that during the visit Mr. Gandhi would also meet students and experts in various fields. It was also aimed at improving political culture in State, Mr. Elangovan said and explained that it was only in Tamil Nadu that political rivals did not meet, talk or even exchange pleasantries. He added that Mr. Gandhi’s visit was also aimed at repeating his Uttar Pradesh and Bihar feat, where the party’s Lok Sabha tally increased from 11 to 26 after he took up the task of meeting youths.
