Corp's Prop Tax Revision Form Available
The Coimbatore Corporation said on Friday that Property Tax revision forms were available at the offices of its four zones. Assessees could obtain blue forms for residential buildings, white for industries and red for commercial complexes. These could be submitted at the office after providing all the particulars required to arrive at the new tax rates. This was part of the newly-introduced system of self-assessment of tax that the owners of the buildings could do, a press release from Corporation Commissioner V.K. Shanmugham said. The Commissioner sought the co-operation of the public in raising enough revenue for the development of the city. In circulars to Assistant Commissioners of Accounts and Revenue, the Commissioner said the officials at the zone level should make a spot assessment and make note of differences between the details provided in the forms and the actual size of the properties. The State Government had fixed June 30 as the deadline for tax revision. If people were not able to fill up the forms completely, they should explain why they could not do it. Their signature and the size of the building should be obtained. If the assesses did not provide the required details, the Corporation would fix in 30 days the rate as per the details in the inspection report.
