Corp Stared Talks With Land Owner

The officials of the Coimbatore Corporation, Revenue Administration and Local Planning Authority held talks with the 15 land owners for getting a portion of their land as a gift to form the scheme road/link road connection 100 Feet Road with Avanashi Road in a bid to decongest the core areas of the city. Collector V. Palanikumar, Mayor R. Venkatachalam, Corporation Commissioner Anshul Mishra, Town Planning Officer M. Soundarrajan, Joint Director of Local Planning Authority, Sekaran and others took part. The proposed scheme is to branch off from Avanashi Road near Nava India and go through SNR & Sons Charitable trust premises and cross over Sanganur Canal and reach the 100 Feet Road junction.

The proposal had already been accorded approval by the standing committee on Town Planning and Development and elected council of the Coimbatore Corporation. The proposed road was going through lands belonging to 15 private land owners. Of them two namely V.R. Varadaraj and Venkatakrishna/Anand Nahatha have agreed to donate the lands as gift. Now efforts are on convince the remaining 13 land owners on the necessity for such a road. If the lands were donated, within six months the link/scheme road could be laid. The road would help in diverting the traffic on Avanashi Road bound for Sathyamangalam Road, Mettupalayam Road and Coimbatore West without touching Gandhipuram and Nanjappa Road.
