Collectorate Office Staffs Walk-out Strike
Most of the departments at the Collectorate here and other revenue department offices wore a deserted look on Monday following the walk-out strike and demonstration by revenue staff in protest against transfer of revenue staff to the newly-formed Tirupur district. For posting personnel for the new Collectorate at Tirupur, the State Government had sought willingness from the officials in Coimbatore and Erode districts. Those who expressed willingness to work at Tirupur were given transfer orders and they had reported for work.Staff associations asked authorities to seek willingness from staff working in other districts in the State to fill the remaining vacancies. The associations alleged that transfer orders have been issued to nearly 20 staff. Since departments in Coimbatore were understaffed, forced transfer would affect their functioning, they said.
