The construction industry is experiencing a shortage of skilled manpower
Indian companies were even hiring professionals from outside the country for projects. Hence, fresh graduates should be drawn into civil engineering. Unlike the past, the construction industry was paying on a par with IT. More than 70 per cent of the time spent on a project was on planning. Developing the planning aspect was of primary importance as this was where the country lacked. Primavera (software) was one of the top tools used in planning, Mr. Srinivasan said. The software was still in an infant stage in India, B. Soundararajan, Managing Director, Suguna Poultry Farm, said. Project management services should come up in India, he observed.
