2,420 Free T.V Distributed
Rural Industries Minister Pongalur N. Palanisamy distributed a total of 2,420 free colour television sets to beneficiaries at a function held at Mayileripalayam and Nachipalayam recently. At the function, the Minister said that a total of 1.5 lakh colour television sets had been distributed in the district and an allocation of 10,000 colour television sets was being made for every Assembly segment so far. He said that 2.17 lakh television sets had been earmarked for the district now.1.5 lakh colour television sets had been distributed in the district
Nine thousand houses would get the television sets besides free electricity connection. Free house site pattas were given to 117 beneficiaries at Mayileripalayam and two beneficiaries were given financial assistance of Rs. 10,000 each under the Distress Relief Scheme. District Revenue Officer M. Balachandran, South Tahsildar T. Mohan Doss, Block Development Officer-Madukkarai, Parthiban, National Road Safety Council member and former MP M. Ramanathan and others took part.
