The farm gate purchase price of egg touched Rs 2.09 when the national egg co-ordination committee (NECC) Namakkal zone announced its daily guideline rates at Namakaal on Tuesday. “The farm gate purchase price of an egg touched an all-time in Namakaal region and it is bound to increase and even cross Rs 2.10 soon,” said NECC Namakkal zone, co-ordinator, VS Balasubramaniam. The consumer price of an egg would hover around Rs 2.50. He said egg is a complete meal and therefore an excellent replacement for vegetables.
