Ten activists of Hindu Makkal Katchi were taken into custody today, when they attempted to burn the effigy of Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil, demanding his resignation over the terror attack in Mumbai. As the information reached the police headquarters about the plan to burn the effigy, over 100 personnel assembled near the District collectorate. Police snatched the effigy and took the workers into custoday. The workers raised slogans against Patil and demanded his resignation.
