Former MLA, Negumam K V Kandaswamy died at a private hospital here after a brief illeness, family sources said. He was 83 and leaves behind wife, two daughters and two sons. Kandasamy was elected as MLA from Kinathukadavu in the district in 1977, 1981 and 1984 on the AIADMK ticket. However, he joined the DMK in 2006 and lost the elections that year. The body has been taken to his native village of Negumam, about 25 km. from here, for the last rites.
