Farmers Claimed They Were Cheated By The Seed Supplier

Grievances Redressal meeting, claiming that they were being cheated by seed suppliers who were&apos&aposproviding spurious&apos&aposseeds, resulting in yield loss in about thousands of acres. Natarajan, a farmer in Karatholuu village, holding a bunch of maize crop, said that the farmers, who had purchased the seeds from a particular shop were the sufferers and 65 per cent of the crop did not bear fruit.


Seeking stringent action against the suppliers, the farmers, who accompanied Natarajan, also sought compensation from the Government for the loss. Collector, V Palanikumar said necessary action would be taken. A group of farmers from various parts of the district, wanted the district administration to protect their crops from elephants and wild pigs, which were straying frequently into their fields and destroying the standing crops. Besides compensation, the farmers appealed to agriculture and forest departments to erect solar fencing to prevent the wild animals from straying into the farms.
