From March'09 Change in traffic pattern on Avanashi Road Flyover
Starting From March 1, the City Police have planned to introduce a change in traffic pattern on Avanashi Road flyover by prohibiting plying of two-wheelers on the flyover. A release from the City Police Commissioner, K.C. Mahali, said that the objective behind the change in traffic pattern was to decongest the flyover and to ensure smooth flow of traffic.
A decision to introduce this system of traffic was taken at the Road Safety-cum-Traffic Advisory meeting held recently. Steps had also been taken to spruce up the pass ways beneath the flyover. From March 1 onwards,
>> Two-wheelers from Avanashi Road to Mill Road and vice-versa and those from Goods Shed to Brooke Bond Road and vice-versa would have to take the pass way beneath the flyover.
>> Similarly, parking of vehicles beneath the flyover had also been banned.
Motorists had been requested to co-operate with the police in enforcing the new traffic pattern in order to ensure free flow of traffic on Avanashi Road flyover and nearby areas.
