CCS Urged Government
Coimbatore Coin Society has urged the Central Government and the Chief Minister to take steps to release a commemorative coin as a tribute to former Chief Minister, C.N. Annadurai. Secretary of the society T.M. Ravichandran said that in the post-Independent India so far 106 special commemorative coins had been released and of them 18 were for late leaders who had excelled in public life and politics. As far as Tamil Nadu was concerned, a Rs.5 coin was released in memory of Kamaraj.
However, last year the Government announced that a coin would be released in memory of late Annadurai. However, no steps had been taken so far.Hence, the society urged the Chief Minister to take up the issue with the Union Government and arrange for releasing a coin in memory of Annadurai.
