Azhiyar water project inaugurated

COIMBATORE: Rural Industries Minister Pongalur Palanisamy on Wednesday inaugurated the Azhiyar Combined Drinking Water Project works.
The scheme is implemented at a cost of Rs 35.47 crore to supply water to Kurichi and Kuniyamuthur municipalities and also to Kinathukadavu special grade town panchayat in Coimbatore district.As many as 15 overhead tanks will be constructed at various places under the scheme.
In Kurichi municipality, a 4000-litre capacity tank would be constructed, for which the minister laid the foundation stone on Wednesday.Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that about one lakh people in the three civic bodies would benefit from the scheme. He said that steps would be taken to complete the project as early as possible.
Prabhakaran, chairman, Kurichi Municipality, Vijaya Kathirvel, chairperson, Kinathukadavu special grade town panchayat, and Gopinathan, Superintending Engineer, TWAD Board, participated. Durai, Chief Executive Engineer, TWAD Board, welcomed. Saleem, Executive Officer, Kurichi Municipality, proposed a vote of thanks.
