Texpo-2007: From July 26-30 at Coimbatore
Coimbatore: A five-day textile machinery exhibition is being held here from July 26 to 30 to showcase the state-of-the-art machinery and highlight the latest developments and inventions in the sector.
It is being organised by the Southern India Mills Association (SIMA) and Textile Machinery Manufacturers Association, TMMA vice-chairman Sridhar Varadaraj told reporters here.
The exhibition is being held considering the huge potential for investment and the capability of indigenous textile manufacturers in India.
He said the objectives of 'Texpo-2007' were to provide an opportunity to the textile machinery manufacturers to meet all shop-floor technicians and apprise them on the latest developments and inventions and also to enable new investors and existing units planning for expansion/modernisation to zero in their technology and selected appropriate machinery.
With textile entrepreneurs in south, particularly Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, planning to invest close to $ 25 billion in the textile machinery (spinning and garmenting) in the coming five years, the expo would give an opportunity to all textile machinery manufacturers to meet the potential and existing customers under one roof, SIMA chairman S V Arumugam said.
Confederation of Indian Textile Industry has envisaged an investment of Rs 1,94,000 crore in the industry in the 11th Five-Year Plan, Arumugam said, adding it has also embarked on a vision of capturing market worth $ 110 billion by 2012 from the $ 52 billion in 2006.
