Dayanidhi Maran, who submitted his resignation from the Union Cabinet on Sunday, is likely to meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in New Delhi this evening, sources close to him said.Maran, who was holidaying at nearby Udhagamandalam (Ooty), cut short his stay and left for Chennai from here by a 9.05 am flight on Monday.

He had faxed his resignation to Singh on Sunday, following the decision taken by DMK to get him sacked from the Cabinet. Maran, in a statement had said that he had not thought of betraying the party leader, but ready to quit the Cabinet and party if, it satisfied the leader and his family. Maran, who reached the city airport well ahead of the flight schedule, straightaway went into VIP lounge. He is likely to leave for New Delhi, after having a brief halt at Chennai. It was not immediately known whether Maran would meet the party president, M Karunanidhi, the sources said.
