Amrita is witnessing a boom in placements

He was confident that it would reach 100 per cent by this month end, as companies like Caterpillar, Microsoft, Hewlett Packard and Tata Elxsi were in the pipeline. “Besides, this time, we are offering our students a dream option whereby a student already placed, may be able to attend the interviews of a few more companies of their choice”.The Chief Operating officer, Brahmachari Abhayamitra Chaitanya, said that a trend had slowly begun where core engineering companies had started recruiting in large numbers.And they had been offering very attractive pay packages, quite comparable to the IT companies.“In the coming years, we will work towards improving the placement of our students in core engineering companies also”.
He said that the university had initiated several faculty and student exchange programmes and ties –ups with some of the leading universities in the world.“Amrita has also joined a leading research consortium funded by the European Commission. This year, we expect to put selected Amrita students in foreign internships for a semester”.He was happy to note that the wards of the university had been regularly winning international accolades like Commonwealth, Chevening and German Academic Exchange Service DAAD scholarships.This year, a group of IT students won second place in the IBM Great Mind challenge, an international software development competition in which more than 7,000 teams from all over the country and also abroad took part. Last year, a computer science student team won the Microsoft Best Project prize.
